Au Revoir

Me > The time has come for me to leave Los Angeles and move home to sweet sweet San Diego..

I won't reminisce about the past 5..almost 6 years here, as I have 2 months left and I plan on enjoying everything that I love about it, and expecting to realize all the things that I will miss. But I will tell you all that I am scared to leave my life, my friends and my city that I have used, abused and loved for these past few years, as it has done me. I am leaving to get my show on the road, take my life on a new adventure, and to make things happen. I will be returning to school to be a writer, maybe a teacher, a business owner.. and everything in between.

LA was for me, an education in its own. I consider my battle wounds, bruises, broken hearts, amazing jobs, loss of jobs, amazing friends, and loss of friends.. all courses in my degree, in which I believe surviving here has earned me. For as many new things that will begin, just as many old routines will end.. And to this I say: enjoy these last few months with me.. As my friends, my weekend warriors. Let's celebrate the all nighters we will always remember and no one else would understand. Let's celebrate finding the few and true friendships in the land of dreams and fairytales. Let's celebrate the adventures, our memories, the X-I-V's..

I know I will only be a few hours away for the relationships that can endure the trials of distance. But I will miss something.. and I suppose that I cannot seem to pinpoint what it is because I am not meant to. I think LA can only love those who love it.. and leaving it will be something only we can understand.

So.. to the next adventure.. and until then..

I Watch You Move and I Can't Think Straight

Cover Lovin' > Mirander Kerr stars in this Cover story for the Australian publication, RUSH. Now I have never been a reader of RUSH myself but I have recently been drawn more and more towards the fashion world of down under. Whether it be Christine Centenera's impecable style or the color infused collections, the Aussie's know how to pull together sexy cool and this feature is a testament to that.

Take away two things from this article. 1: I would totally wear the outfit from the cover if someone would give it to me. And 2: This body just had a baby.

Cheers Bitch

Life Changes > It was one-hundred days as of yesterday. You may ask why I am choosing to write this piece today, Day 101. And honestly, I was surprisingly underwhelmed by my "achievement". The overall feeling was a lot less exciting than what I expected when I was writing at just 50 days. The thought of hitting 100 seemed like something in the distant future that would be filled with feelings of elation and accomplishment. Instead I felt like I had made it through a measly 100 days. 14.2 weeks. 3.3 months.

Continuing similarly throughout these last 50 days as the first, there is an almost palpable emotional and mental clarity that comes along with not drinking. I believe that if I asked anyone I knew to stop drinking for this amount of time, the emotions and situations they would face everyday with an absolute clear mind would take a heavier toll on them than they expect.

The biggest difference from my first 50 days to my second is that the excitement and drive to continue this change has turned into a state of reflection and personal goal making. That moment is going to come when you realize the tremendous amount of projects and to-do's you are getting done. The physical achievements you and your body are going through. And there is definitely going to come a point where you look back and think "WTF was I doing with all my time?". Then you are going to remember all the idiotic, hurtful, dishonest, and embarrassing things you did with your time. I have hit those moments of reflection and they have brought me to tears on several occasions. In the more extreme cases I have gone back and made apologies, and in others, I use my time now to make up for the past.

Don't get me wrong, I am proud of myself. I am proud I have been able to restrain from drinking no matter how difficult the situation. I have made it through St. Patty's day, multiple birthdays including my own and even a trip to Vegas. (Not recommended). But more so I see all the things I should have been doing a long time ago. Instead of reflecting on what a great achievement not drinking for 100 days is, I see more clearly the things I have to do with my days, my time and my life now. I see where I should have been years ago and I am thankful for where I am at this very moment.

PSHH... 100 days? Let's go for two.

Skinny Bitch

The Skinny > My boyfriend and I went to Palm Springs yesterday for a mini Valentine's Day-cation. Falling asleep next to the waterfall with nothing above me except palm trees and sunny skies made me realize how quickly Spring Solstice (March 20) will arrive. As much as a girl can dream in the heat of the desert, I am back in LA and my legs do not look like this. As I am already planning to duplicate this entire outfit: coral, lavender and all; I am going to need my legs to catch up.

To kick-start getting into Spring shape, first things first: eating right. I became a strict vegan about 5 years ago and since then I have slowly fallen off a few things. To tighten up my eating habits I have cut out (again) coffee, dairy and alcohol and have chosen to re-read the book that changed my eating habits forever, Skinny Bitch. This book based off a strict vegan diet is not for everyone, BUT it is extremely informative and provides great tips on how to live a healthier life.

You can pick up a copy of Skinny Bitch here. Enjoy!
