McQ S/S 2013

Runway > I found these little goodies in my draft box and realized I had almost forgotten the honeycomb madness that took the runway for McQueen Spring/Summer 2013. Tortoise corsets and jewels filtered by honeycomb head pieces and bee motif print garments, Burton brought back the woman's shape with dresses that seemed to float above them and reminded us that woman are worker bees. Dominate, classy, and sexy yet not overt and incredibly powerful.

Winter Wide-Leg

Daily Inspiration > When it is January in southern California and the temperatures are toying with my emotions - 56 today, 85 and sunny tomorrow - there is a staple piece in my wardrobe I am always drawn to. The wide-leg trousers. The best thing about this item is the amount of options you have while styling an outfit. In my closet I have about 3-4 Vintage pairs ranging from wool blends to polyester, beautiful coral Alice + Olivia's, and my staple denim JBrands. Not only do you have choices with the particular style of trousers but the combination of tops are endless. As you can see above, wide-legs give you the windchill coverage while allowing you the freedom for cool and simple or funky layering up-top to adjust to any unseen forecast.

Little Box Jacket

(Photo courtesy of 4th And Bleeker )

Wish List > Off the runway of another wonder from down under, Australian designer Manning Cartell delivers this beautiful piece made of 100% silk organza with contrast raffia collar and cuffs. A mutually glamorous and sexy take on the bomber jacket, this number can be worn over a pencil skirt, with boyfriend jeans, or my personal favorite: the look above. This jacket is designed to sit off the body, as I believe any sheer article of clothing should.

$399 and this can be yours here.

The Cold War

Daily Inspiration > Every year as the end of summer stretches on and we long for the days of jeans, boots, and scarves, we imagine these amazing fall and winter outfits that we will wear. Then, the seasons change and we are freezing. We look into our closets every morning and we want so badly to be cute but to hell with it, I can't even feel my fingers. This is the cold battle. The point where you want so badly to look good but you want to stay warm and toasty. Let's remember that even in the cold weather and even with layers, ladies we can look good. Put a little extra time into your outfit and avoid sweats and overuse of Uggs.

Like Karl Lagerfeld said, "Sweatpants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of your life so you bought some sweatpants."

ChloƩ Pre-Fall 2013

Lookbook Lovin' > ChloĆ© celebrated its 60th anniversary last season and designer Clare Waight Keller continues to do the brand justice as we see in the Pre-Fall 2013 collection. The English designer brings her own sense of mixes but the French point-of-view designs make up the staple pieces, such as the flounced organza cocktail dress in pale mint (above left). Trousers and shirt dresses were smartly belted and tweed appears in a wonderful shaped jacket or two. Drawing on 60's mod for inspiration and emphasizing "Carnaby St. shapes" such as boyish cropped trousers, Waight Keller delivers a collection that is soft and beautiful with a vintage touch.

Nude Inspiration

Daily Inspiration > Nude and neutral. Here are a few of my favorite looks using completely different pieces in neutral and nude colors, all making fantastically chic and stylish outfits. I know we all have some destroyed boyfriends jeans and a grey crew neck in our closets. Get inspired. Create.

Givenchy-To Me

Wish List > Meet the Shark Lock Fold Over Wedge Boot. I have never seen a more beautifully designed, classy, wearable, over-the-knee black boot in my life. It is stylish, transitional, sexy and you can actually wear these with tiny skirts and not look like a whore. What? You were all thinking it. Best part is.. if you think it is beautiful just standing there up above.. look at it worn below.

For $1,695 these babies can be yours here. May take me a while to get them but I have a feeling these will never go out of style.

California Dreamin'

Campaign Obsession > Terry Richardson. Candice Swanepoel. Chateau Marmont. This is all you need to know about Juicy Couture's Holiday campaign just released. I am not a fan of JC myself, but they couldn't have tapped a better duo to make the brand look good. Dancing the night away to "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" with champagne in hand and felines donning massive jewels, California Dreamin' is the perfect theme to their campaign. Unfortunately, Candice steals the show to the point that I hardly noticed the clothes. Let's hope the prints do more for the brand!

Enjoy!

Light Side of the Moon

Lookbook Lovin' > Nasty gal gets sporty in their November look book shot by Devyn Galindo. Set against a background of white sand and blue skies, Naomi Preizler models new and vintage pieces in eclectic hues and textiles. Of course my favorite piece from the collection is the top she is wearing above and it is nowhere to be found on the website for purchase. BUT they do you an amazing dip dye faux fur jacket in ombre brown which is just as fabulous.

Anthropologie x Made In Kind

Retail Retell > This is something new for me that I find to be fantastic so I would like to share with you. A few years ago I wasn't much of an Anthropologie shopper. I judged it from the outside as a country terrain hippy store that took Penny Lane and stripped her down to House on the Prairie. Never judge a store until you walk in its shoes. Or dresses. Or house decor department.

Anywho. I did of course venture in and fall in love with the ethereal and feminine aesthetic of everything they have. I am even more pleased to have just discovered their monthly Made In Kind collections. Each month Anthropologie taps indie designers to create pieces for an exclusive collection. November's collection just arrived in stores and the designers are NYC brand JF & SON, Nadinoo designer Nadia Izruna, Brooklyn based Alexandra Grecco, and the husband-wife duo behind Place Nationale.  All of these diverse designers stick loosely to Anthro's feminine and nature inspired aesthetic while adding their own twist to create a beautiful, eclectic and romantic collection.
